Two great additions to Pontiac Power Week are the "Creative Cars" project and the MotorCities Dedication Ceremony. Check below for information on both!

Pontiac Arts Commission "Creative Cars" Project

The Pontiac Arts Commission is helping to bring the Arts back into focus in Pontiac!

And in celebration of Pontiac Power Week, the Woodward Dream Cruise and "All Things Automobile", we're giving folks a chance to express themselves by jazzing up a jalopy!

  • Saturday, August 20th from 10am - 7pm

  • Saginaw Street between Pike and Lawrence, in front of the Flagstar Strand Theatre

  • All ages are welcome!

  • Artists of all levels are welcome, however, no experience is necessary.

  • 10-minute intervals, 3 artists per session

  • Paints, brushes, smock and gloves provided

Plus, the Pontiac Arts Commission will be onsite on Friday, August 19th from 4pm - 10pm and on Saturday, August 20th from 10am - 8pm!  We will share info on local artists, upcoming events and organizations, have Canvas Murals on display from WHRC student art classes provided by The Art Experience and more!

Thank you to Adlers Towing for the donation and transport of our jalopy cars!

MotorCities Dedication Ceremony

On Tuesday, August 16th from 9:30am - 10am, join officials from the City of Pontiac, State of Michigan, Oakland County and MotorCities National Heritage Area for a dedication of Pontiac's 55 wayside exhibits installed around the city.  The dedication will take place at the Pontiac City Hall, 47450 Woodward Ave, Pontiac, MI 48342.

These markers recognize the important role that Pontiac played in growing the automotive industry of Michigan and putting the world on wheels.  There will be a vehicle display in the parking lot of City Hall.

More details and a map of the ceremony can be found here.
